Tokyo, August 10, 2017 Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) has officially expanded its presence in Indonesia and the ASEAN region with the launch of its all-new XPANDER at the 25th GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show in Jakarta. The XPANDER is a next-generation multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) designed to enhance the motoring experience with its expanded features in design, comfort, convenience, and performance.
Expanding market presence Mitsubishi Motors' XPANDER aims to capture the growing demand for MPVs across Indonesia and ASEAN. Produced at Mitsubishi’s factory in Bekasi Prefecture, West Java Province, Indonesia, the XPANDER is expected to produce 80,000 units annually. It will be available in Indonesia in the fall of 2017, with plans to expand to other ASEAN markets and beyond by early 2018. The XPANDER is a significant milestone for Mitsubishi in the region, further strengthening its presence in the booming MPV segment. 
Rugged design meets comfort
The XPANDER’s design blends the ruggedness of an SUV with the functionality of an MPV. Its striking exterior features Mitsubishi's "Dynamic Shield" front concept, shared with other models like the OUTLANDER PHEV and PAJERO SPORT, emphasizing passenger and pedestrian protection. The vehicle is 4,475 mm long, with flared fenders, high-positioned LED lights for enhanced visibility, and a floating roof design for a modern and bold look.Inside, the XPANDER is spacious, offering seating for seven passengers. It boasts a roomy cabin with ample headroom and generous luggage space. The second and third rows can be folded to create a large, flat storage area, while multiple storage compartments are available for smaller items. The vehicle also features a quiet cabin, thanks to soundproof glass and extra insulation. 
Advanced Technology and Electronics
The XPANDER comes equipped with a multi-information LED display, smartphone connectivity through Bluetooth, and multiple power sockets for charging devices. Its Keyless Operation System allows drivers to unlock and start the car without removing the key from their pocket. Additional convenience features include a welcome light that stays on for 30 seconds after unlocking the vehicle and headlights that remain on for 30 seconds after the engine is turned off. 
Performance and safety
Powered by a 1.5-liter MIVEC engine, the XPANDER delivers 105 ps and is available in both 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmissions. The vehicle is designed with a high ground clearance of 205 mm, enabling it to handle rough roads and challenging conditions. The lightweight yet strong body ensures driving stability and comfort, making it ideal for both urban and rural environments.Safety is a priority for the XPANDER, with features such as the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Active Stability Control (ASC), Hill Start Assist (HSA), and Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) as standard. The vehicle’s body structure incorporates Mitsubishi's RISE (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution) technology, providing superior protection in case of a collision.
